South Africa is probably most known for its immense preserves and safari opportunities for world travelers. It’s an enchanting place, one filled with action, adventure, class and comfort. Whether you want to 4-wheel through the mountains or track and follow lions on the plains, South Africa offers adventurous visitors daily excitement and thrills. For those who are not quite so adventurous, South Africa offers the best in shopping. In places like downtown Johannesburg (South Africa’s largest and most exciting city) and Cape Town or Nelspruit, there’s a store waiting for you. South Africans love to shop, and visitors will find opportunities in malls, a multitude of stores, and even street vendors throughout the city. Nightlife here is hopping, and the food is wonderful, colorful and exotic.

Electric plug M 220/230V 50Hz. In some areas plugs C and/or G. Electric power plug M (or BS 546). Type M is 15 A/250 V version of electric plug D (220/230V 50 Hz). Plug M is larger than D. Plug D is not compatible in South Africa

Visa Requirements
Keep in mind that yellow fever certificated may require display before if your travel involves passing through any yellow fever zones in the African continent. Visa for people traveling to South Africa for or requiring medical attention:

A visitor’s visa is issued to those who want to visit South Africa for medical treatment for periods of less than three months. Such visa applications must (according to the Department of Home Affairs Republic of South Africa: “Include a letter from a medical practitioner or medical institution, indicating the nature of the ailment, the reason/necessity for treatment, the period of treatment and particulars of the appointment/s made in South Africa. Include full details of the person or institution responsible for the medical expenses and hospital fees. If your medical scheme or employer will be liable for the expenses incurred, proof of medical cover must be submitted. People who require medical treatment for longer than three months must apply for a temporary residency permit (Form BI-1784).”

Money
The rand is the common currency in South Africa. Most hotels and larger shops will also accept credit cards. Travelers should carry some cash, and be advised that most businesses won’t take traveler’s checks. Convert them to cash at a bank or airport.
