The High Price Tag of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in the U.S.
Cosmetic plastic surgery is designed for people who not only would like to improve the appearance of their face, breasts, buttocks, and abdomen, but those who require reconstructive surgeries caused by accidents or genetic defects. Common cosmetic surgeries and treatments include:
· Breast augmentation or reduction
· Facelift
· Nose surgery
· Tummy tucks
· Liposuction
The type of cosmetic procedures performed determines cost. In the U.S., eyelid surgery may cost up to $2,500 and nose surgery can reach $3,300. Liposuction can cost upward of $4,000 per area of the body. Most plastic and cosmetic surgeries performed in the U.S. are not covered by medical insurance.
Increasingly popular medical destinations for cosmetic plastic surgery are found in exotic locales such as South America, Asia and Europe. For example, Botox treatments run from $200-$400 per area in the U.S., while treatments in Thailand may cost anywhere from $130-$180. Such cosmetic treatments in India may range from $112-$180 per treatment area.
Liposuction costs and treatments are defined by the area where fat is located and the anatomical focus. To put it quite simply, larger areas cost more. For example, the cost of liposuction to the lower abdomen costs around $2,000 in the United States. Liposuction to the outer thighs may cost $1,600 each. Medical tourists may benefit through cosmetic surgery procedures centers in Argentina, where charges costs are less, generally under $3,000, which in many cases includes lodging. Liposuction in India costs one tenth of what it costs in the United States.
